John I would hate for a Tokanui lad to be humiliated. But do you really think your farts don't stink. Ethanol is an ODOURLESS gas, it is lighter than air hence has been demonised as a climate change agent. My Pope family in UK owned several coal mines until they were nationalised after WW2. During that time they used canaries to identify the presence of Ethanol in the mines. Main reason for this is the fact that Ethanol gas is odourless. Formaldehyde gas is heavier-than-air so it sinks in air BUT unlike Ethanol Formaldehyde stinks like hell. Now do you understand that animal farts are Formaldehyde gas and not Ethanol gas and can not be claimed to be an agent in global warming. I have done extensive research into my family history and genetics going back over 1000 years. I am about 10 years older you so our paths did not cross as I travelled from Haldane through Tokanui in our younger years. Would be great to catch up sometime. I did a bit of farming but mainly had fruit orchards in Roxburgh and Nelson to supply my Anathoth Jam Factories I Founded and developed in NZ in 90s. And was in partnership with Howard Patterson and his A2 milk. Kaye and I have retired to Townsville, Queensland.

I get corn belt land being high priced, and you really only see a few head on little tracts that would be too rough for row crops, or in CRP, but I’ve been grazing cover crops for 20 years and put 1/3 of my ground in rest every year, which is heavy forage production with heavy grazing. I can’t see a path to success raising cattle on stubble and buying / selling at the sale barn like they do out west. I run 1000-1100 head including all of them and they are a significant part of my fertility program. I’m direct to consumer and 2 yrs backlogged.

Cow size vs. profit - Are the larger cows in your sample mated to proportionally larger bulls or the same size bulls as the smaller cows are ? Is this a factor resulting in the calf's declining % of the cows body weight ?

  • @joebloggs619

Easy. Just employ feminists and fatten them up and work the non breeders to death till they drop, to provide for the breeders on constant paid leave from work, on an endless pregnancy cycle, to produce more cows, so they can keep breeding and working themselves to death. You need to generate a good solid steady supply of "cows". Few bills necessary. Just a couple of very good fertile ways who must not come into physical contact with any cows because this will interfere with them working eg cause jealousy, envy, fights, disruption etc. All procreation should be done hygienically and efficiently, by a very economical means. AI. No, not artificial Intelligence, though this might also be useful. AI, as in Artificial Insemination ie a test tube inserted into the cows, to instigate each pregnancy cycle, like they do with cow herds in rural Australia. Getting semen out of prized breeder bulls might be hard, as these are often very big boys and not always cooperative in sexual matters. But, since males can be easily conned into sexual "giving", by things like pornography or sexual objects, all it requires to get the bulls to deliver breeding semen for the AI process is some statues of very sexy looking fake cows. Like the types we see plastered all over Instagram and the Internet, in their sexy bikinis etc, promoting whatever crap they are trying to con us into buying....

What is really destroying our industries, food production etc and threatening our sustainability is not climate change or new technology or advances in biological sciences etc. It is simply stuff like feminism, environmentalism, multiculturalism, immigration, uncontrolled populations (of both humans and the animal world), immigration etc. These are being very poorly managed by the upcoming politically correct millennials generation taking control of running the nation's, the planet. Especially millennial females. Their ideas and proposals are simply too impractical and crazy to be sustainable long term. Unless they change direction ery soon and start getting real and down to earth, practical, the future will not only look as bad as millennials all fear for the planet and them. It will be even worse than they can imagine. No food, because millennials like forgetting with computers, all nice and clean and comfy, no dirty hard agricultural or manufacturing work to do. Massive disease spread wiping out entire populations, because millennials like to amass "experiences" not things eg constant overseas jetsetting around. Animals taking over because humans protected them enough to turn them into a threat, so they eat us, instead of us eating them, like we used to do. Millennials ruling the world because they all must have their uni degrees, to avoid work and still get paid a fortune by taxpayers, just to treat the workers like worthless shit, though they depend on these people they continually put down, ignore, insult, deprive and cause increasing hardships for, with offensive politically correct laws etc. This will lead to inevitable violent revolt against political correctness regimes, especially those dominated by feminists and their multicultural cohorts. The sadresult will be total disintegration of the existing social order. It will simply all collapse under the weight of political correctness oppression and regulation. And some pretty heavy handed military type control or policing will be the only way to restore order amid such social chaos that will result if the current political correctness path is pursued by such millennials now running the national and global show so badly. I do not wish to be around where that happens, when it does. Australia is likely to be the worst place for this because it is one of the most politically correct places on Earth and with the weakest, most tolerant etc type of government, which keeps caving into political correctness. When it really needs to be coming down on such types as feminists at the ABC and public media like a ton of bricks, really cracking down on immigrants and Traveller types, the way businesses operate, the way educational institutions operate, what they preach, how, why etc. Every aspect of modern Australian society is now completely out of control and creating a very dangerous environment which needs to be reined in,What is needed is tougher, stronger, more mature responsible government. Normally, in a well manaagedsociety, younger people like millennials would be able to gradually learn the ropes and take control as the older generation does off. But with this lot now, this will be very dangerous. Why? Because these millennials have been very defectively raised by their Baby Boomer overindulgent etc parents who did everything for them, gave them everything and allowed them to feel entitled, so special, so important, like the world owed them something but they never had to earn it, like they were put on Earth to be really something. Especially millennial daughters of feminist mother's. The reality of life is very different, as the more practical down to earth less priveleged working class millennials all know. These are the ones who will eventually be turning all the tables on the rest and surviving coming social upheavals and chaos to try and recreate a more sustainable economic and social order, with no university educated hotshot feminist or multicultural "leaders" with wrong attitudes, like now. The workers don't need bosses to fire up production, farm the land to grow food. They just have a community meeting, decide as a group what they need to do to stay alive and thrive and then just do it. Nobody has to order anybody around or be a leader or be in charge and all this shit millennial politically correct feminists and multicultural types try to inflict on others who hate them, resent their existence among them, don't need them, don't want them, have no use for them. They get by and have a very sustainable life quite well without these predatory millennial professional types, thank you very much. The world is not controlled by mere "leaders". It is controlled by those with the real power and that is no single individual or clique eg feminists, greenies, millennials , a certain ethnic group or class etc. It is those with the greatest collective power, those who control production. The working classes. Right now they appear to be invisible, silenced by political correctness. But they are alive and ready.. Just watching and waiting, conserving energy, being patient and tolerant, peace loving etc. But, pushed any futrher by political correctness, they will suddenly lash out and strike back eg violent social chaos, mayhem, upheavals in urban areas, like Melbourne or Sydney and it won't be pleasant. Which is why smart Australians won't live in such potentially very dangerous places as the future highly toxic new world order politically correct millennials seek to impose unfolds, causing inevitable total social order breakdown in such places where political correctness is strongest and most offensively felt. In remote rural locations, life is harder but one is safe from political correctness. If some of these types come out to try it eg doing the latest ",homesteading" trend, it's easy to deal with. Just ignore them, starve them out, offer no support, let them perish in natural disasters, like fires, share no economic survival tricks with them. They soon bugger off back to the comfort of urban life. Problem solved. And why does this fucking technology device keep distorting everything I type in, AFTER it was correctly input, so as to make the intention of the post unintelligible or sound like looney gibberish? This is yet another example of how modern politically correct millenial society oppresses the little people that feed it, so they are effectively silenced or dismissed as crazies. I call it "technological oppression". We don't hate technology. It can make life better, but it is being used in a way that makes our lives so much worse than before we had it. Why? Because there is too much unnecessary innovation. The wheel is round, which enables it to roll, for transportation etc. Very useful invention. But, once a wheel is perfectly round, you can't make it better by trying to make it rounder still. Leave the perfect wheel alone. It works. If it ain't broken, don't try to fix it. Same applies to technology. We had systems that worked OK. People were happy with them. They knew how to use them. There was no need to muck itt all up on them and cause chaos by unnecessary, counterproductive, superfluous innovations. Leave the fucking system system alone. If I type a word incorrectly because I know how to the ND write in a particular language, I don't need some fucked up automatic correction computer system screwing it all up and turning my correctly typed language into senseless deranged looking gibberish and I don't need voice input if I prefer to write, as I am not dumb or disabled and too stupid to be capable of typing. Now, I realise some may be, especially illiterate millennials etc. So give them this option technology because they are very "intellectually challenged" ie stupid. But, for the rest of, we are content with simple, intelligent writing and some of us can actually not only use our brains to think independently, but also our hands to type efficiently. Because we are not of the millennial fuckwits generation's era of defective education system, bad parenting, sloppy workplace management with no or worthless training, just endless political correctness "seminars" on bullshit like environmentalism, feminism, multiculturalism etc, no real skills acquisitionteaining. Sso leave the fucking system alone, unless you want huge numbers of people simply refusing to even be apart of not just your technology systems, but the entire social system. This radical shift in thinking has already started to take root, I am pleased to observe. People are moving outside the system in droves. They have figured out how to live without it quite well and can now afford to simply dump it and all those who promote it ie all the politically correct feminists and other millennials who think they are in control of it, but are seriously deluded in their notions. Because their rug of economic and other security is being pulled out from under them.
